The Wall That Heals

Bryan, Dan and I went to Blue Springs yesterday to see the traveling Vietnam Veteran's Memorial.

This gentleman was putting a young boy at ease by telling him about his "bionic leg."

This is Henry G. Mundt, II.  Many such memorials were to be found along the wall.

Dan stopped to study the "Fallen Comrades POW MIA" display.

Searching for names.
The total number of names on the wall is 58,267.  Of those, 1200 are listed as missing - either POW or MIA.
This gentleman is the last of his unit.  The brother of one of his fellows
presented him with a poster depicting the Fredrick Hart statue, "Three Servicemen"
which stands at the Wall in Washington, DC.    The poster was signed by the designer
thanking him for his service.

Here he is photographing the name of his fallen comrade.

In honor of SFC David A. Woods, who fell 11/1/67, an authenic 1960 bottle of
Schlitz, a pack of Lucky Strikes, and a flag were left as a tribute.

One of my favorite organizations, The Patriot Guard, escorts the traveling memorial from town to town.  They came from Nebraska to Blue Springs, and are heading out to Oklahoma tomorrow.

This member of the Guard gave us a lot of great information and was very
helpful to us.  If you ever have the opportunity to see the traveling wall, please do.
