The next bit of madness was our March surprise. I was minding my own business Saturday afternoon, taking a little nap. When I awoke, the biggest, most beautiful flakes were falling. No self-respecting photographer would let this moment pass, so I grabbed my camera. This is the lattice outside my kitchen window. Clematis will be covering this by June.
This is our beautiful red maple in the front yard. It reaches the top of our two-story house. The branches were bent to the ground, and the new leaves are dripping icesickles. One of the giant, wet flakes can be seen in the bottom right foreground.
I thought this image of our little "Welcome" sign on our back screen porch was a bit comical with the ice and snow all over it. Not really a welcoming sight!
This is the view to the southwest off my front porch.
And this is my little pink crabapple tree. I was so disappointed in the snow for all the spring blooms, but mostly for this tree. It is the fouth year we've had it. The first year it was past bloom when we planted it. The next year we had a late freeze that gorked the blooms. Last year it was so beautiful, and I was sad that we'd have another spring without it's glory. But, thank-you, Jesus, everything melted off without much damage at all, so there should be blooms in a few days!
