Bryan, Dan and I went to Blue Springs yesterday to see the traveling Vietnam Veteran's Memorial.
This gentleman was putting a young boy at ease by telling him about his "bionic leg." |
This is Henry G. Mundt, II. Many such memorials were to be found along the wall. |
Dan stopped to study the "Fallen Comrades POW MIA" display. |
Searching for names. |
The total number of names on the wall is 58,267. Of those, 1200 are listed as missing - either POW or MIA. |
This gentleman is the last of his unit. The brother of one of his fellows
presented him with a poster depicting the Fredrick Hart statue, "Three Servicemen"
which stands at the Wall in Washington, DC. The poster was signed by the designer
thanking him for his service. |
Here he is photographing the name of his fallen comrade. |
In honor of SFC David A. Woods, who fell 11/1/67, an authenic 1960 bottle of
Schlitz, a pack of Lucky Strikes, and a flag were left as a tribute.

One of my favorite organizations, The Patriot Guard, escorts the traveling memorial from town to town. They came from Nebraska to Blue Springs, and are heading out to Oklahoma tomorrow. |
This member of the Guard gave us a lot of great information and was very
helpful to us. If you ever have the opportunity to see the traveling wall, please do. |
